Preparing for your first vinotherapy treatment: the guide

Guide June 13, 2026 5 min read

You have booked your first wine bath and a hint of apprehension is mingling with the excitement? That's perfectly normal. Here is everything you need to know to approach your treatment with peace of mind.

Vinotherapy is a simple and accessible experience, but a little preparation helps you enjoy it to the fullest. From booking to your return home, just follow the guide.

Choosing well and booking

It all starts with choosing the spa. Look at the treatments on offer, the atmosphere of the place and the location. Weekend slots fill up fast, so it is best to book ahead. When you book, don't hesitate to mention if it is a first visit, a couples treatment or a special occasion: the spa will tailor its welcome accordingly.

To find the address that suits you, our wine spa directory lists venues all across France.

Before the appointment

On the day, arrive a few minutes early to settle in. Avoid a heavy meal just before, as with any activity involving heat. Remember to stay well hydrated throughout the day. As for what to wear, bring a swimsuit unless the spa tells you otherwise. The rest, robe and towels, is generally provided on site.

During the treatment

Once you are in the bath, let yourself go. The temperature is designed to be pleasant without being excessive. Breathe, close your eyes, savour the moment. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell the therapist: they are there to make adjustments. A wine bath often lasts around twenty minutes, sometimes followed by a massage or a tasting depending on the package.

Wondering whether the alcohol in the wine is a concern? Rest assured, diluted in the water it stays perfectly gentle on the skin, as we explain in our article on the wine bath and alcohol.

After the bath

On your way out, take the time to rest before heading off. Drink a large glass of water to make up for the perspiration. Avoid intense exertion right afterwards: your body is in relaxation mode, so let it enjoy the moment. Many spas offer a relaxation area to extend the interlude.

You are now ready for your first vinotherapy session. All that's left is to choose your spa in our directory and let yourself be tempted.
